A century ago, the triumvirate of Lal-Bal-Pal was the most popular group of leaders across the India. Now that nation itself is divided into three different countries (India, Pakistan & Bangladesh). How many just know the triumvirate today? Somebody asks, ‘Where exactly they are in the history?’ These questions are often heard on such issues. Some important questions that I’ve heard from the trustee of our society Justice Rajinder Sachar and the veteran journalist Kuldip Nayar are pertinent to share before we proceed on this celebration issue. This is about a couple of things that may reflect the attitude of both—the govt. & the public. Justice Sachar asks, ‘Who knows Lalaji in the other part of Delhi & NCR?’ He refers to the SoPS headquarter at Lajpat Bhawan. Nayar Sahib was upset on the attitude of the govt. on an interesting issue. He once disclosed that Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri (Prime Minister & President, SoPS) allocated a piece of land adjacent to the Lajpat Bhawan. He also told me something about The Tilak School of Politics, and inquired about the present status. What was the actual idea of Shastri ji behind this development project? I had a talk on this issue with Shri Deepak Malviya, Secretary SoPS. He was also not happy with the attitude of the bureaucracy. Please don’t think that tax collectors are always the same?
There are enough of questions to think before this 150th Birth Anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai. Dr. Onkar Mittal (President, SACH) suggested about the political biography of Lal-Bal-Pal including Mahamana Malviya (Bharat-Ratna). The teacher of Gandhian Thoughts, Dr. Vijay Kumar discusses Swadeshi and Swaraj for quite sometime at the camps of Swadeshi Jagran Manch. Shri Punam Suri (President, DAV) and Shri Vinay Arya (Arya Samaja Leader) are also talking seriously about the interesting celebrations of 150 years of the beloved Lalaji. The seven seers at The Tilak School of Politics are thinking that this is impossible to achieve the purpose of this series of celebrations in the absence of Your Excellency.
Lalaji had sustained the painful blows at the ripe age that took Bhagat Singh to the gallows. Therefore we request for the gracious presence of Your Excellency in an event at one of these three places: The Tilak School of Politics at Lajpat Bhawan (SoPS), the Anarkali (DAV managed Arya Samaja) at Mandir Marg, and the Arya Samaja at Hanuman Road during this 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations. In fact, these are the best places in NCR to send the message and salute the martyrdom.
